Happy Memorial Day Weekend, Everyone!
Memorial Day Weekend has been an especially important weekend in my family since my two brothers and my husband were all members of the U.S. Armed Forces. So, I’m especially proud and grateful for their service to our country and the same goes to all our amazing current/past service members!
Needless to say, we’ve always celebrated this special day by being with our families and sharing what else – food!
But Memorial Day Weekend is now an extra special time for me. It marks the point where everything changed for me. Back in 2013, I was united with my family about to enjoy in an amazing BBQ feast we had prepared.
But just as I sat down to eat, my pants button tore and flew halfway across the room. There was dead silence in the room and I was mortified. I remember my husband broke the silence by saying, “That’s what you get for buying cheap pants. We’ll go get some good pants tomorrow.” Everyone chuckled and my mother lent me a safety pin to hold up my pants.
Everything was business as usual until the next day at my local Cato store where the clerk informed me there were no sizes bigger than size 28 in their store.
I couldn’t believe it – from then on I realized I had to make a change in my life. So I joined Weight Watchers in June 3, 2013 and I worked hard to achieve my goal to lose 183 lbs and get to my goal weight.
Two years and ten months later on May 16, 2016, I made Lifetime!
Since then, it’s been tough at times, shifting the mindset from losing to maintaining my weight. But it’s been an amazing time. It’s now a year later and I couldn’t be happier that I’m still at goal weight!
So how are you celebrating your Memorial Day Weekend? Share it with me!
