Hi, y’all! This week, my weight is still hovering around the same amount – can you believe it? But no worries, I’ve ridden out longer plateaus. Just have to keep switching things up until I find the correct combination that’s going to give me a breakthrough.
In this week’s meeting, we talked about portion control and how to figure out portions whenever we’re out and about – away from our kitchen scales or measuring spoons/cups.
Some strategies that have worked for me in the past are:
1) I don’t order my salads at restaurants with any dressing – since sometimes food preparers can get over generous with it. Instead, I always pack my own in my purse.
2) I also always lean towards buying portioned snacks/foods. If this isn’t an option, as soon as I bring the food down from car to my kitchen counter, I make sure to portion them out in plastic snack bags so I don’t overindulge later on.
Here’s one of my fave foods from my local H.E.B. grocery store and my greatest challenge – pumpkin seeds.
As soon as it hits my counter, the whole bag gets portioned out in small snack baggies. Phew! Crisis averted! 18 grams comes out to 3PPV.
What are your portion control strategies?
