Hi, Everyone! I just uploaded a new YouTube video all about the importance of spaces. Click here and check it out on YouTube!
Setting up your environment for success, wherever you are, is a really powerful tool. Whether you're planning ahead for a specific event, or need to manage a situation in the moment, Spaces gives you an armory of real-world tips.
Clearing up your spaces of foods that are high in points, or not good for you is crucial to our weight loss success. For example, if you walk into your kitchen and the first thing in your line of vision on your counter, pantry, and fridge are sky high points snacks such as cakes, cookies, candies, and pies – this will make it that much harder to get that Zero points fruit or veggies you inadvertently stashed at the back of your refrigerator.
So putting the right food that’s going to help us stay on track - front row and center is very important. Our other not-so-point-friendly snacks don’t need to be in the spotlight.
In order to accomplish this, we can arrange our snacks accordingly, but if you’re like me and have other family members who periodically move everything around, organizational containers are a great tool to help us.
I got this great tip from Alejandra TV (an organizational genius – I love her). In her videos, she shares that a great and affordable place to find some organizational items is the Dollar Tree. The items they carry are very versatile and you can use them all over your house.
Plus, Wal-Mart also has some great storage bins as well.
Here are some before and after pictures from some items I bought at the Dollar Tree and Wal-Mart.
~~~~~~~~~
I had a lot of problem areas in my spaces. First up, my pantry was just out of control. I went looking for some stacking bins and I found some at Wal-Mart that were exactly the right size I was looking for.
They were perfect for my lemons, onions, and my portioned out snacks which were strewn everywhere in my pantry. Here’s a before and after of my pantry.
I also bought these stacking trays for my cans at Wal-Mart that worked out great, though I wish they would house more than 3 cans in a row. The space filled up pretty quickly.
I had bought this specifically for my cans of Progresso Light soups, but they didn’t even fit in it.
Another problem area for me was my spice rack. Before Weight Watchers, I would rarely use anything other than Season All and butter to flavor my food. Now, I experiment with all kinds of seasonings and it shows! I used one of the green bins I got from the Dollar Tree to house my favorite go-to seasonings for easy access.
This worked out great because I was always searching around for my Tumeric, Garlic Powder, Black Pepper, Cumin, Low-Sodium Season All, Onion Powder, and Crushed Red Pepper Flakes seasonings. Now everything is located in one convenient place.
In my fridge, I got to use the blue bins I got from the Dollar Tree. And a green bin from above as well.
I used two of the blue bins to house my salads and I grouped together all the cheese products I had in my fridge. For the green one, I used it for my cucumbers and squash. It really cleared up a lot of space in my fridge! I’m all set to go grocery shopping tomorrow.
Finally, my desk got organized. I used the three small blue bins to house my miscellaneous office items, and the two smaller pink bins were put to use with other various items that didn’t have a home. Of course, my pink trashcan made it to the left side of my desk. I love it!
Before, I had everything thrown everywhere and the remnants drawers of my previous desk were still lurking around, waiting for me to find my office supplies a permanent home. Here are some before pics.
And after:
No more old desk drawers on the floors! I bought the two large pink bins on the first picture (featured on the left and right on the shelf above the computer screen) at Wal-Mart.
Now all my spaces are cleaned up and I can finally concentrate on the important matters at hand.
How are your spaces? Do you have any problem areas? What tips/tricks did you use to fix them? Tell me about it!
Oh my goodness! This is incredible! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
